Driftwood with floral designs and more….

Driftwood is so beautiful by itself, imagine when you add some floral to it. It becomes even more eye-catching. I enjoy creating beautiful and unique arrangements on a piece of driftwood for any occasion.

You and I both know that we can visit almost any store today and find an enormous selection of flowers, to create what every ideal you might have in mind.

You can choose from traditional or contemporary, or perhaps you want a beautiful Rustic country look or a Vintage style. Maybe you are just looking for something plain and simple like flower dressings or a look of a bouquet in the center of your driftwood.. Coordinate your driftwood with the colors of the room you want to display it in.

Once you have your piece of driftwood chosen and finished, you are ready to add your personal style. You can kind of tell and have a plan in your head what you what to do with it and how you want to design it. All kind of thoughts are going through your mind. There are truly unlimited possibilities !

Floral design and more….

The great thing about working with a piece of driftwood, is that you can always add more than just the variety of flowers to it.

You can add your own little personal touch with other items. Such as shells and beads. Or even beads in a vase on your driftwood. They have so much decorative potential. Pine cones, and all sorts of nuts can be added to your floral arrangement. Perhaps you want to add some fake moss or small clear pebbles or dark round little stones. Maybe you have a miniature birdhouse you could always work that into your floral arrangement. Sit a bird on the end of your driftwood. You could always finish it off with a ribbon that hangs, or a vine or a big bow. Up-cycling and reusing discarded materials, is good for the environment and is easy on your crafting budget .

The possibilities are endless for you to make a floral master piece on your very own drift wood. You will love showing off your creative talent and your home will look even more amazing !

  1. I took a floral design course in college and we never talked about using driftwood. All sorts of different vases, arrangement shapes but never driftwood. How very interesting! Living near the beach I have access to loads of it so I’ll have to give this a shot. Thanks!

  4. I never would have thought to use driftwood in that way. I live in Santa Cruz and there is some good driftwood on the beach. Your article has inspired me. I will head to the beach and find some. Then I will grab a potted plant and put the two together. It will really help to decorate my apartment.

I do have a question though. What do you recommend for fake plants that will go well with driftwood?

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

    1. Hi Alex,
I am pleased to hear the article inspired you! To answer your question, it depends on what size your driftwood is, as to what type of fake plants you add to it. I would start with Mini Succulent & Cactus Plants. Or you could add a small spider plant or a small fern. They are always a good option. Please let me know how this worked out for you. If I can be of any assistance, please reach out to me. Have a great day !

  5. I enjoyed checking these out, lovely idea and a subject close to my heart. One of my e-mail addresses is (taken out for privacy ), I worked for a pal who owns the Driftwood beach bar in Zakynthos and I stayed at The Driftwood Hotel in Cornwall for a weeks holiday.
    Good luck.

  6. Nice post, Tina, very creative you can usually find driftwood around any small lake. These are some good ideas on how to fix them up never really ever thought about doing that before. Did you ever think about making these floral driftwood designs and selling them? Did you know you could make a business out this and funding your projects?

  8. What a great idea! I will have to remember to pick up some driftwood the next time I am down by the coast. Is there anything you should do to the wood before adding flowers? Is it better to leave the wood untreated or should you put a layer of something on it? Thank you!

    1. Hello Colleen,
I am thrilled to hear that you are going to try this, you will amazed at what you can do, and how your masterpiece will turn out.
I am leaving you a link, it will explain how you can clean your driftwood. It is best if you treat it with something, even if it’s just a clear coating. This will preserve your wood for years to come. Please let me know how your project turns out. I would really be interested in hearing how it went for you. Please remember, I am always here if you need any help, or have any questions. Enjoy and Go Create !!

I will have to find some driftwood to make a beautiful floral design out of it. I am sure my family would love it too.

  10. Interesting concept of using driftwood for floral designs. As a child I grew up near the Mississippi River and spent a lot of time on its banks collecting driftwood and fossils, which I still have. In fact, that driftwood is all over my house in different locations, as conversation pieces.
